The Transportation Security Administration has released an updated strategy meant to help the agency implement and integrate cloud-based services to carry out its mission to protect the country™s transportation system.
Under the Cloud Strategy 2.0, TSA will implement a œCloud Smart strategy for existing applications and œCloud First for new IT services, according to a FedBizOpps notice published Wednesday.
The agency listed a set of principles to leverage the power of cloud. These include building a culture of innovation and experimentation; adopting TSA-approved cloud platforms and services; enabling a mobile workforce; and effectively managing TSA data.
TSA cited compliance, flexibility and integration as the three basic requirements that are critical to its approach to cloud computing.
The agency plans to adopt a hybrid cloud architecture and will employ software as a service, infrastructure as a service and platform as a service models for its cloud framework.
For its cloud implementation plan, TSA will establish a digital services group, form a cloud team, conduct data discovery and application analysis, build a core cloud infrastructure, evaluate and set up security processes and architecture, plan for governance and prepare for cloud migration.
